Interview with CRSoundStudio

  1. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  2. A: That I will not return a project until both of us are 100% happy with it.

  3. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  4. A: That it doesn't feel like a job. I love getting lost in a new project and being inspired by the creativity that every artist brings to the table. Putting together a great mix that both the artist and I love gives me an adrenaline rush and I love getting to be a part of that creative process.

  5. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  6. A: The more information I can get from the client about direction and feel of the song up front, and feedback from initial mixes on the back end, the better and faster I can complete the project and make them as happy as possible.

  7. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  8. A: I have been playing music since I was 10, received a degree in audio engineering, toured with country artists as a live sound engineer, and built a demo recording/mixing and mastering studio.

  9. Q: How would you describe your style?

  10. A: I like my tracks to be full and punchy while keeping them from getting too overcompressed and losing the dynamics and energy.

  11. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  12. A: I work on a large variety of styles, but having my roots in the Nashville music scene I have the most experience in country and singer-songwriter

  13. Q: What's your typical work process?

  14. A: I like to set up a rough mix to start understanding the track, and use reference songs or notes to get the right feel the artist is going for. Once I get close to what I think the artist is looking for I will send them the mix to get some feedback and make any tweaks as needed.

  15. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  16. A: I started my studio in Nashville and designed it to be a demo studio focusing on singer-songwriters wanting to record quality demos to pitch to record labels and publishing companies. Since then I have relocated and primarily use my studio for mixing and mastering.
