Jae Coop on SoundBetter

The sound you need

I am an Audio Engineer with over 15 years of experience in the Music Industry. I have had the honor of experiencing records that I recorded and mixed become RIAA certified Multi-Platinum and peak on Billboard’s charts. Although I am self taught and grew up making music, I also studied at Full Sail University where I graduated for Recording Arts with an Associates Degree in 2011. I have kept my work very exclusive for a while but now I want to give everyone the chance to work with me.

  13. Q: What's your typical work process?

  14. A: If I’m in the studio with the artist we are most likely recording vocals. I love to capture the moment and create something from scratch. It’s something about being in the same room together where the energy can be felt and start building a record as we go. There’s no rules or exact way I record vocals because every song is different. Most of the time the plug ins will already be on the vocal so as we are recording we are also going in the direction of how the mix or final result would sound like or we’d want it to sound like. I get very involved; I am not only tracking vocals but I am also creating elements in the record. So I make sure to have all the vocals I need because once I begin to mix and work on the mixing and mastering changes are the artist is not there and if present sometimes the vibe isn’t the same, the vocal doesn’t sound the same that day, so get all the vocals done when artist is present. When it comes time to mix my process is the same as it is when I’m working on a record I started from scratch with the artist or if I’m working on a Mix that was recorded somewhere else by someone else and sent to me via Email the first thing I do is clean up the session and make sure everything sound clean, from there I go into Mixing.
