Yooo super dope guy for real, and his work is absolutely amazing, the work he was able to do on my vocals were tremendous, not to mention he guided me through how to properly record and what to use during your setup. Once again recommended worth the money.

Interview with Ace Wav Studios

  1. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  2. A: I was trained by Shaun of Raw Technique Studios. He would be my recommendation!

  3. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  4. A: A microphone, a laptop, audio interface, a midi controller, and a external hard drive.

  5. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  6. A: I have been doing music production for 12 years now. I went into school for audio engineering and continued out the door finding my own work, and constantly practicing the art.

  7. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  8. A: My strongest skill is Mixing and Mastering,

  9. Q: What's your typical work process?

  10. A: I typically start with a rough balance, then begin dialing in effects and volume automation to get a professional quality end result.

  11. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  12. A: I run my studio on a lenovo PC. I operate on Pro Tools for mixing and mastering. I mix on both my krk rokit 6's, and a pair of sony MDR-7506 headphones. I reference on most small devices, and my car. I use a Audient iD14 Interface which has amazing, clear sound.

  13. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  14. A: My next single set to be released December 2022

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: That mixing and mastering will cure or fix a badly recorded song, or a lack luster performance. I think it' common to think that the process of mixing and mastering is like a magic pill that fixes something bad.

  17. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  18. A: My advice is to not cut corners in your music. Just make sure your happy with your performance and quality of tracks you're providing me, and together we will bring your vison to full life.

  19. Q: How would you describe your style?

  20. A: I draw in inspiration from alternative styles of music. Any artist or group that have elements of hip-hop, rock, r&b, metal, and more.

  21. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  22. A: I typically work with Hip-hop and Rock productions the most. I am open to most genres because mixing is mixing at the end of the day, and my process stays the same no matter the genre.

  23. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  24. A: Linkin Park, Mike Shinoda, NF, Logic, Breaking Benjamin, Lights, Red, Memphis May fire, and many more!

  25. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  26. A: I entered into a Mike Shinoda remixing competition in 2018 called 'Remix Post Traumatic''. My role was to make a beat around Mike's acapella vocals. I decided to record my own rap verse over a portion of the beat, and then I mixed and mastered it. Submissions were being chosen by the Linkin Park fan sites in various countries and my remix got chosen and made it to the top 5 out of hundreds of submissions. It is now on Mike Shinoda's official SoundCloud page under the playlist ''Remix Post Traumatic''. I'm proud of this project because Mike is my greatest influence, and having been picked as one of the winners really encouraged me to take on opportunities and be confident.

  27. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  28. A: What I love most is having the opportunity to contribute to the art someone else is making. Mixing itself is an artform, and can be very creative at times. It's also problem solving and when problems are solved, I feel satisfied in my work.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Mixing in mono is very useful because out in the real world, a lot of people are listening to professional tracks in a mono situation or less then ideal listening environment (the elevator speaker, the corner of a car, a smart phone, or a blue tooth speaker for example). Mixing in mono helps identify what instruments or tracks are clashing most in your mix, and by consequence, helps you achieve a more clean and punchy mix.

  31. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  32. A: I see stars because of how unique their sound design and overall production quality is.

  33. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  34. A: I wouldn't say I prefer one over the other. I like how convenient and mobile digital can be, and it's what I've worked with the most being a mix engineer. But I'd love to work with more analog gear if I get the opportunity to be around it or invest in it.

  35. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  36. A: If they aren't completely satisfied with my work, I will do everything in my power to make sure that changes.

  37. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  38. A: The most common questions customers ask me usually relates to mix revision request such as volume changes, or adding or adjusting effects applied to the mix. My answer is always Yes and making sure that their art is taken care of to their liking, and that they are happy and satisfied with their final project.

  39. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  40. A: I like to seek out what new projects their currently excited about, and what they envision it to sound like including some song references so i can get a good picture of what they're going for.

  41. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  42. A: I provide professional mixing and mastering services for Hip-hop, Rock, and Metal music.
